Meeting My Dad

My dad, then Corporal James H. Mills (called “Hank” by his friends) arrived in Karachi to begin training Chinese mechanics to maintain and repair the American-made B-25 Mitchells in early April 1944.

I was born three weeks later in Arkansas, on the other side of the world. My mom showed me the photos that he sent home, but I didn’t meet him until after the war, in November 1945. He was back home in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family, when I was eighteen months old.

So this is part of his story, which has also become mine with the publication of my book. Read the full story in The Spray and Pray Squadron: 3rd Bomb Squadron, 1st Bomb Group, Chinese-American Composite Wing in World War II.
